Critical essay about “Petites Histoire”

“Petit Histoires” is made of a series of 50 photographs present Petit Histoires” is made of a series of 50 photographs presented on print paper and slideshow (using Windows Movie Maker). It inteds to reduce image to its essencial form. Leading the photograph to another sphere, probably less important than the plot and bringing to light the imaginary as a product of reality.

While we let ourselves been envolved by the snapshots, we dive into the script without claiming for conclusion. The short scenes displayed in sequence suggest private and daily stories, moving back and forth from real to ficcional. They invite us to create a story or, who knows, multiple stories through the titles of each movement.

This creative possibility given to the spectator is endowed by an everlasting atmosphere, once it would be recreated several times either by philosophical ideas around photographic representation of real or by the interaction with the short scenes.

The slide show representation is related with the cinematographic language and suggests a pre-established rhythm organized as a continuous movement made by other movements.

On the other hand, printed images, despite their static form, assume a dynamic aspect as they dialogue with a comic strip framework they give the spectator the freedom to choose his own reading rhythm even if the scenes don´t have a closure.
